Kirsty Malcolm KC

Advocate
Westwater Advocates

Kirsty Malcolm called to the Bar in June 2007, and took silk in September 2021 . She is ranked in band 1 by Chambers as a KC, in family law; matrimonial and children, and as a leading silk by Legal 500.  Her caseload is primarily working on financial provision in high value divorce cases, and cohabitation claims. She also undertakes work involving disputes over children, usually where there is an international element to the case, or a particularly difficult issue to be addressed, such as allegations of abuse.

She has developed an excellent reputation for her work relating to financial claims by former cohabitants, and co-wrote the book “Cohabitation”, which discusses the law in that area.  She was a member of the Scottish Law Commission’s advisory group, carrying out work on the proposed reform of the legislation addressing claims by former cohabitants during their lifetime.
