Marta McVicar
Marta McVicar is Legal Technology Lead at Harper Macleod LLP, one of Scotland’s leading full service law firms. She leads the firm’s approach to legal technology, AI and innovation, working closely with legal and business teams to deliver practical, responsible solutions that improve how people work.
Marta’s focus is practical and human-centred, translating innovation into tools and processes people actually use, spanning AI enablement, automation, process design, and change management. She is particularly driven by the challenge of helping organisations move beyond pilots and proof-of-concepts, building approaches that are not just technically sound but adopted, embedded, and measurable in their impact. For Marta, the real work of legal technology is not in selecting the right tool but in creating the conditions for it to succeed.
Outside her day role, Marta is an active and recognised voice in the legal tech community. She was named one of ILTA's Young Professionals to Watch in 2025, a recognition that reflects both her professional impact and her broader contributions to the field. She is also co-founder and Chair of Women in Legal Technology (Scotland), a network she established to foster inclusion, build community, and develop the next generation of legal tech talent across the Scottish legal market and beyond.
