Nicholas Oprescu-Havriliuc
Nicholas Peter Oprescu-Havriliuc, AffWS, SSC, FRSA is an Associate at MBM Commercial LLP, an award-winning commercial law firm that helps entrepreneurial businesses to start-up, scale up and go global. Nicholas advises on a wide range of corporate transactions, with a particular focus on capital raising, mergers & acquisitions, technology and scale-up. He supports companies from incorporation through multiple investment rounds to successful exit.
Nicholas brings a keen interest and knowledge in artificial intelligence, technology, and robotics to his work. He has spoken on the use of AI in legal practice at various engagements, including at Parliament House and the Law Society of Scotland. He is the author of “Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence: A Criticism of Their Implementation in the Modern Workplace as It Relates to Employment Law”, which ranked in the top ten across several eJournals on the Social Science Research Network. He also holds a certificate in Legal Technology, as well as in Data Ethics, AI and Responsible Innovation.
Nicholas serves on the Council of the Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts of Scotland and is an Affiliate Member of the Society of Writers to His Majesty’s Signet. Nicholas also teaches on the “Contract and Unjustified Enrichment” and “Commercial Law” courses at the University of Edinburgh Law School.
Nicholas graduated with First Class Honours in LLB Law and French from the University of Edinburgh. Nicholas also spent a year studying French law at Sciences Po in Paris.
