Tracey Brown
Before turning to law, Tracey was a registered general nurse. She undertook the LLB at Strathclyde University, graduating in 2005 and completing the Diploma in Legal Practice in 2006. She has also obtained an Ma(Hons) in Philosophy from Glasgow University and an MPhil in Medical Law and Ethics from Glasgow University.
Tracey trained as a solicitor in general court practice. She regularly appeared in the Sheriff Court and gained experience in civil and criminal law as well as in family matters. In 2009, she specialised in pursuing medical negligence claims, acting on behalf of individuals and families in cases against doctors, nurses, midwifes, GPs and dentists. Tracey has dealt with many and varied types of cases including failures in care, surgical error, delay in diagnosis, misdiagnosis and wrongful life. She has experience in dealing with complex, high value, serious injury claims including fatalities and birth injuries resulting in cerebral palsy and ERB’s Palsy. She has also been involved in Fatal Accident Inquiries.
Since calling at the Bar in 2019, Tracey’s practice as an Advocate has been in primarily focused in clinical negligence and personal injury. She is a case presenter for the NMC and she has a continuing interest in family law and residential tenancies. Tracey has also acted as Junior Counsel in criminal trials in the High Court. She regularly appears in the Sheriff Court, Court of Session and at Tribunals.
