Victoria Simpson
Victoria is a Director and Head of Charities at Anderson Strathern. She has been accredited by the Law Society as a specialist in Charity Law since 2009. Victoria advises on every aspect of charity law and charity tax law. She acts for numerous charities including housing associations, royal charter bodies, religious bodies, universities, colleges, schools, educational endowments, trusts, charitable companies, Scottish charitable incorporated organisations, arms-length external organisations, professional membership bodies, philanthropists, unincorporated associations and community benefit companies. Victoria also acts for a number of dual registered and international clients.
Victoria is both tax and investment qualified, being an Associate member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and of the Securities Institute. She co-authored: ‘The Practical Aspects of Scottish Charity Law’, a legal textbook published by Greens in August 2016. She is a trustee of the Scottish SPCA, the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust and the UK wide Hero’s Fund Trust. She therefore has first-hand experience of the issues affecting the sector today. Victoria sits on the ICAS Charities Panel and the Law Society Charities Committee. She sat on an HMRC working party to review gift aid and was recently appointed to the Revitalising Trusts Group on behalf of the Law Society of Scotland Charities Committee working with OSCR and Foundation Scotland. Victoria also sits on the steering committee of the Charity Board Initiative, a joint project between Anderson Strathern, Edinburgh Napier University, Santander and RSM Accountants to encourage students to join charity boards and provides training to the students. Victoria is much in demand as a regular commentator, author and public speaker in charity law and charity tax issues
