Careers advice for school pupils

  1. Home
  2. Qualifying and education
  3. Our work with schools

If you are a pupil thinking about a career in the legal profession, we would recommend that you find out as much as you can about studying law and what is involved in becoming a solicitor.

You can find out the route to qualifying as a solicitor in our qualifying and education section. Once you start thinking about university, you will also need to find out more about the LLB (degree in law), the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice and the traineeship.

Street Law

Find out more about our award-winning legal education programme, where university law students deliver highly interactive law lessons to school pupils.

Donald Dewar Memorial Debate Tournament

This year, our annual schools debating tournament will see 64 teams from across Scotland enter the first round, with just one team crowned the winner at the grand final.

Virtual Summer School

An invaluable chance for aspiring solicitors to hear Scottish legal industry professionals speak about opportunities in the law. Our Summer School runs for one week in June each year and is a great opportunity for aspiring solicitors to gain knowledge about Scots Law.

Careers events for school pupils

We run provide information for pupils and teachers about the route to qualification and we run an annual summer school to provide insight into roles in the legal profession.
