Outreach and Engagement Manager £45,726 per annum (35 hours per week)
It is an exciting time to join the Law Society of Scotland. We have a vacancy for an Outreach and Engagement Manager within the Education, Training and Qualifications team resulting from the previous post holder moving to a new role. Reporting to the Head of Diversity, Careers and Outreach, this role is the account manager for the new lawyer stakeholder group and leads the operational management of the Law Society’s social mobility charity, the Lawscot Foundation, as well as working with our Careers and Wellbeing Manager to increase the range of our Lawscot Wellbeing offering, a dedicated online resource providing help and guidance for Law Society members and employers. The post holder will line manage two members of the Education, Training and Qualifications team.
The work of the Education, Training and Qualifications team is varied and includes setting standards for and monitoring provision of the route to qualification; regulation of and support for solicitor traineeships; schools outreach; engagement with students, trainees and newly qualified solicitors; equality and diversity; and career development accreditations and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities for this role
- To be the key account manager for the new lawyer stakeholder group at a Law Society level, representing their interests to ensure the future of the profession receives a high level of support and engagement from their new, or future, professional body.
- To lead the operational management of and strategy development for the Lawscot Foundation charity.
- To work in association with the Careers and Wellbeing Manager to plan, deliver and lead work in relation to Lawscot Wellbeing, with particular focus on inclusive participation in wellbeing.
- To be the key account manager for students and university contacts, including representing the Law Society at university events and meetings, delivering presentations to students and co-ordinating student events.
- To represent the Law Society and the Lawscot Foundation in a wide range of communication tools to deliver information and gain feedback from audiences.
- To have oversight of key outreach activities and to develop further opportunities for work in this area, including development of potential commercial partnerships to support this work
- To manage projects and have line management responsibility for two direct reports.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Degree level education or significant experience in a related position
- Managing a number of projects simultaneously and managing events
- Designing and delivering training sessions on specialist topics and presenting to a range of audiences
- Working with a range of stakeholders
- Line management experience
- Content creation for articles, blogs and presentations
- Influencing and negotiating skills
The successful applicant will be a team player who is innovative and highly organised, with the ability to work on their own initiative and use their judgement to further engagement with students, trainees and newly qualified solicitors and to further the objectives of the Lawscot Foundation charity and the Lawscot Wellbeing programme. This role requires in person attendance at meetings and events and some evening and out of normal office hours work.
