OPG updates: bonds of caution; revised PoAs

31st January 2019 | mental health-adult incapacity

Marsh launches online service

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) has an arrangement with Marsh to provide affordable and easy-to-arrange bonds of caution. The bonds are underwritten by Aviva.

Marsh has recently launched an online facility as an alternative and hopefully more efficient way of buying new bonds of caution. To arrange a bond of caution please see www.arrangebonds.com

Revoking and putting new powers of attorney in place

OPG has issued a notice with a reminder of the steps to take when revoking a power of attorney (PoA) and submitting a new one. The process should be as follows:

1. Submit the PoA via EPOAR.
2. Pay the registration fee.
3. Email opg@scotcourts.gov.uk to advise that a PoA currently exists.
