PoAs: reasons needed for expediting registration!
The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) has issued a statement regarding the expedited power of attorney registration service.
OPG currently has a large backlog of powers of attorney awaiting registration. Applications to expedite a power of attorney must provide a reason as to why it is required urgently. It is not necessary to include private and personal information within the request, but sufficient evidence is required to justify why the case should be given priority. Requests citing that the granter is elderly and/or frail are not sufficient and do not demonstrate why the power of attorney is required urgently. The majority of granters could be classed as elderly and/or frail.
Any expedited requests will be considered and either granted or refused. If the request is refused you will receive email confirmation of this. If the request is granted, the power of attorney will be processed within five working days.
