52 new solicitors welcomed to profession

Our latest Admissions Ceremony took place at the Signet Library in Edinburgh this morning (14 June) with 52 new solicitors being admitted to the profession. 

Sheriff Principal Craig Turnbull spoke at the ceremony, which marks the culmination of years of hard work and the beginning of an exciting career in law for Scotland’s newest solicitors.

At the ceremony, President of the Law Society, John Mulholland said, “It’s a great privilege for me to be welcoming you as new solicitors. You will all find that you continue to learn, develop and have new experiences throughout your professional lives.

“If you take away one thing today, remember the importance of what you do for the society you live in, be proud of it and celebrate it. Respect your profession and each other as you pursue your personal goals and ambitions."

Lorna Jack, Chief Executive of the Law Society also gave an address and spoke about the services the Law Society offers for new lawyers and the many ways they can get involved with the work of the Society.

Speaking at the event, she said, “We are here to support you, your career development and your futures and regulation is a core and key part of what we do. It is critical that you and your colleagues have clear and robust rules to guide you in the course of your roles, but there is so much more on offer to help you to not just do your jobs, but to excel in your roles, as fulfilled and happy individuals.”
