Comment on violence and threats to solicitors
The Law Society of Scotland has commented on reports of threats to solicitor firms and advice agencies in England following the recent outbreaks of violence.
Law Society President Susan Murray said: "It is extremely concerning to hear of any solicitors facing threats and intimidation for the important work they do, in the wake of the violence in parts of England and Northern Ireland in recent days.
"Lawyers dedicate their skills, experience and professionalism to protect and uphold people’s legal and human rights, ensuring those rights apply equally to all. They must be able to carry out their role without fear of intimidation.
"We would urge any of our members to contact us if they have concerns and of course to contact the police directly if they receive any kind of threat."
