2018 Council election voting open
Voting is open for the Law Society of Scotland Council elections.
16 solicitors are competing for a total of four seats across three constituencies.
Solicitors in Campbeltown, Dumbarton, Dunoon, Oban, Rothesay and Fort William can vote online for their preferred candidates of the three standing for two seats.
Solicitors in Greenock, Kilmarnock and Paisley can select from two candidates standing for the single seat representing their constituency and newly qualified and trainee solicitors have a choice of twelve candidates all running for the one seat representing newly qualified solicitors, trainees and students.
The Council is the Society’s principal decision making body and the successful candidates will be responsible for representing the views of their constituency colleagues at Council meetings for the next three years.
Lorna Jack, Chief Executive Officer of the Law Society said, “The opportunity for constituency members to vote in Council elections comes round just once every three years, so it’s really important that those votes are put to good use, making sure views across the profession are represented. It’s quick and easy to vote, so find out which of your colleagues is standing and get voting.”
Eligible members can find out which of their colleagues is standing and why they want to join Council in the work with us section of our website and have until noon on Wednesday 16 May 2018 to cast their vote on the members area.
