EU referendum debate, Smartcard registration, update from Naomi
It's been an exceptionally busy few months! Some highlights include our England & Wales flagship event, which was a debate on the UK's membership of the EU. This was a great success and was very well attended. Thank you to everyone for coming, and to those of you who didn't make it along, I hope to see you at the next event.
The Society of Scottish Lawyers in London's Burns Supper was a roaring success, and our office bearers continue to regularly come down to London to meet their members in England & Wales and to support Chantel and I. Our next event, "Misconceptions", is on 21 March, and I hope to see many of you there.
My firm, Matthew Arnold & Baldwin LLP, merged with Dentons UKMEA LLP on 1 February 2016. My email address is now naomi.pryde@dentons.com. All my other contact details remain the same.
Quite a few people have contacted me about being sworn in as a notary public. I am in the process of arranging a date and a venue to swear notaries in. If you are interested in becoming a notary public then please contact me.
I've received a lot of queries about the QLTS qualification recently. I'm in the process of putting some materials together which will hopefully assist you all, so watch this space.
As always, please get in touch if you have any questions or queries.
Naomi
We still have places available at the London Smartcard registration event on 17 March. If you would like to attend, please make sure you have completed and returned the application form and photograph in good time before the event.
We are also in the process of planning Smartcard events in Manchester, Leeds and Bristol over the next few months. We will be emailing members in these areas directly as soon as details are in place but feel free to email the Smartcard team to find out more.
Alternatively, to sign up for a 1-2-1 appointment to receive your Smartcard, email Chantel Gaber.
In January, we hosted a debate on the EU referendum followed by a drinks and networking reception. The panel of speakers included Ken Clarke QC, Suzanne Evans and Brian Monteith. The event was also an opportunity for members to meet Law Society staff and office bearers.
