I need to find a solicitor!

Thousands of people contact the Law Society every month online and by phone, looking for the right solicitor for them. 

That’s why we're launching an exciting new consumer-focused advertising campaign this month (October) to promote the work of Scottish solicitors as trusted, regulated legal professionals. The new campaign will also raise the profile of our web-based Find a solicitor search tool – visited almost half a million times every year. We also answers 500 calls each month from members of the public who are looking for help from a Scottish solicitor.

We've recently improved the online search function to ensure that people who need legal advice can find a solicitor to help in their particular circumstances, whether they are searching by area of law or by location. Results are listed randomly in each search carried out, giving all firms an equal chance of being listed. It also helps with cyber security by allowing would-be clients to check their solicitor is a registered, regulated professional.

Solicitors moving to a new job, providing a new service at their firm, or who qualify as a solicitor advocate or become an accredited specialist, can ensure that people find them on Find a Solicitor by updating their membership profile. 

Watch out for the new adverts - online and on your travels. They depict just some of the services solicitors can offer their clients from advice on wills, personal injury, power of attorney, buying a new home or growing their business and will feature on trains travelling across the country and in stations in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen throughout October and November.
