Fraud alert - fake solicitor
What’s the issue?
We have been informed that a person calling themselves David Moreno is claiming to be a Scottish-qualified solicitor entitled to practice. There is no solicitor of this name on the Law Society of Scotland Roll.
There have been increasing reports of fraudsters targeting the legal sector and we would advise solicitors and members of the public to be alert to potential frauds and scams at this time. If anyone has any concerns about the person they are dealing with please use our find a solicitor search tool which lists all solicitors who are entitled to practice or contact us at lawscot@lawscot.org.uk.
What should I do?
You should not engage with the correspondent. If you suspect a fraud, or other crime, remember to report it on the Action Fraud website. Where a fraud or scam has actually taken place, it should be reported directly to Police Scotland.
