Law Society raises £12,315.50 for Crossbasket House
Law Society of Scotland colleagues have shown their support for families in Scotland with seriously ill children, by raising a fantastic £12,315.50 in aid of Crossbasket House.
Crossbasket House provides much needed accommodation for the families of children being treated at the Glasgow Children's Hospital. Many of the families travel from across Scotland and further afield to receive specialist care. So it is vital that they have somewhere close by to stay.
The Society took part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk, held plant and bake sales and pitted their wits against one another in a charity quiz night to raise funds in aid of their chosen charity. A Law Society colleague was given a home away from home at Crossbasket House, while their daughter received lifesaving treatment at the Glasgow hospital.
William McGowan-Smith, Head of Partnerships and Business Development at Crossbasket House, said: “We’re so grateful for the incredible fundraising completed by the Law Society of Scotland and their kind donation to Crossbasket House.
“It’s donations like these that allow us to continue to support the families of children and young people being treated in the Royal Hospital for Children.”
Ben Kemp, Chief Executive of the Law Society of Scotland, said: I am beyond proud of my colleagues here at the Law Society who have given of their time, creativity and compassion to raise this substantial sum.
“After a visit to Crossbasket House earlier in the year, members of our Colleague Community were moved by their experience and the lifeline being extended to families when they need it most. We have relished the opportunity to support this important initiative and wish them all the very best for the future.”
