Law Society’s rise continues in Top 100 Inclusive UK Employers list
The Law Society of Scotland’s commitment to diversity and inclusion has been recognised with an improved ranking in the Top 100 Inclusive UK Employers Index for 2024.
The professional body for Scottish solicitors has been ranked 76th in the 2024 list from the National Centre for Diversity, up from 84th place last year.
Investors in Diversity accreditation was achieved by the Law Society in early 2022, and this was upgraded to Leaders in Diversity Gold status at the beginning of 2024.
Law Society of Scotland Chief Executive Diane McGiffen said: “We’re pleased and encouraged with the progress we’ve made in the three years since the Law Society was first accredited by the National Centre for Diversity. This improved national ranking reflects that, on top of the Gold accreditation we received earlier this year.
“Colleagues have been central in leading and supporting this process, which is so important given the key point is to recognise and empower people. We know there’s much still to do, and are committed to continuing to strive for improvement.
“People are central to the Law Society’s role supporting and regulating the solicitor profession in Scotland in the public interest. Being an inclusive workplace puts us in the best possible position to fulfil those vital responsibilities.”
Solat Chaudhry, Chief Executive at the National Centre for Diversity, said: “I send my warmest congratulations to Law Society of Scotland on successfully reaching number 76 in the Top 100 Most Inclusive UK Employers Index 2024.
“The inspiring organisations that make the Top 100 demonstrate excellent levels of employee retention and recruitment and clearly demonstrate how they value and respect the people that work for them.”
The Law Society remains committed to its staff in a number of other ways, with an Investors in People Gold accreditation, through a Great Place to Work certification and as a Living Wage employer.
