New legal sector engagement forum

4th May 2023 | Regulation

The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) has set up a new legal sector engagement forum, which practices are being encouraged to join.

The OFSI, which is part of HM Treasury and helps ensure that financial sanctions are properly understood, implemented and enforced in the UK, has set up the forum to enhance its engagement directly with the legal sector, build more productive relationships and understanding, and provide a regular opportunity for members to ask questions.

The Law Society’s anti-money laundering team is part of the forum and is encouraging all members who may have exposure to sanctions or be interested to take part.

The forum will take place quarterly, on the first Tuesday of every third month, as a hybrid meeting on both Microsoft Teams and in person at HM Treasury’s office in London, at 1 Horse Guards Road, London, SW1A 2HQ. The next meeting takes place in July.

Agendas for each forum will be provided in advance by the OFSI and questions and agenda items are welcome to be submitted by members in advance of the meeting.

Any members interested in attending should email ofsiengagement@hmtreasury.gov.uk to confirm that you would like to be added to the membership of the OFSI Legal Sector Engagement Forum. It would be appreciated if you could also please copy in aml@lawscot.org.uk to allow the AML team to understand who is attending from the membership.

OFSI will then send out Teams/in-person invites to each quarterly forum.
