New research launched to provide in-house insights
New research to better understand the opportunities and challenges for in-house solicitors is being launched by the Law Society of Scotland.
The Society has engaged independent research company Taylor Mackenzie to survey in-house solicitors, with the research launching via email on Friday, 12 June 2026.
Topics that will be examined through the research include:
Demographic information and trends
Ethics and governance
Technology adoption and artificial intelligence
Career progression and recruitment
Wellbeing
Law Society President Serena Sutherland said: “The profile and importance of in-house solicitors has grown along with the number and range of in-house roles. Their work for businesses and other organisations both in Scotland and further afield is so valuable.
“This research will help us to better support and advocate for in-house solicitors. Our In-house Lawyers Committee will be using the results to develop an in-house strategy and roadmap so that our support reflects what our members tell us.
“We are looking to better understand the opportunities and challenges for in-house solicitors, along with the diversity of in-house roles and how working environments vary from place to place.”
Invited participants will be able to complete the survey until the window for responses closes on Monday, 6 July 2026.
