New Russian legal advisory sanctions webinar
Practices with exposure to Russian sanctions are being encouraged to attend a Ministry of Justice webinar on new legislation that prevents UK lawyers from advising Russian companies in certain business deals.
The webinar will take place on Tuesday, 18 July 2023, at 10am, covering in detail the new UK legal advisory service sanctions placed on Russia, which came into force on 29 June 2023.
Speakers will include representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Department for Business and Trade, and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
The Law Society’s anti-money laundering team is encouraging all members who may have exposure to such sanctions or be interested to take part in the webinar.
Practices can register and submit questions in advance here. Registration is open until Friday, 14 July. The webinar will be hosted on Microsoft Teams Live.
Further information on the new legislation can be found here.
The anti-money laundering team would also like to remind practices that they can join the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation's new legal sector engagement forum. More information can be found here.
