Photo ID requirements at Glasgow Sheriff Court

Due to a recent review of security across Scottish courts, all regular court users must wear visible photo/ID passes at all times within the Glasgow Sheriff and Justice of the Peace Court building.

Solciitors can continue to use their Law Society of Scotland Smartcards for this purpose.

The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) security policy states: “The ability to check those with a legitimate need to be on court premises is an essential element of our security. All SCTS employees, Crown Office employees, social work department, witness services, solicitors, G4S staff, Servest Security, Baxterstorey staff, and all other regular visitors to court must have ID cards which are to be worn at all times whilst on the court premises. The ID card must display a photograph, employee name, and a unique issue number to facilitate security checks.

"The cardholder has a duty of care to protect the card, immediately report any loss or theft, and immediately surrender the card if they cease to have a legitimate need to be on court premises.

"Anyone wishing to enter the court building who does not have or cannot display an appropriate ID card will require to pass through the security portals before entering the court building.”

From Tuesday 18 July 2017, any of the above groups entering the Glasgow Sheriff and Justice of the Peace Court building will be required to wear and display their respective ID cards at all times whilst on the court premises.
