Potential industrial action by Procurators Fiscal
Last month the FDA union published the results of an indicative ballot for strike action by their members in the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS). 95% of those responding to the ballot voted to support strike action over pay parity between COPFS and equivalent roles in the Scottish Government.
Law Society President, Amanda Millar, said: “Solicitors in the Crown Office play a vital role in our legal system. Like all solicitors, they are people of the highest professionalism who take their responsibilities towards the administration of justice extremely seriously.
"In all my time in the legal profession, it has been extremely rare for members of the Crown Office to even consider industrial action. The fact an indicative ballot has so overwhelmingly supported strike action shows just how significant these solicitors’ concerns have become. It is important for the Scottish Government to take these concerns seriously and work with the Crown Office and unions to address all the issues raised."
