Saltcoats solicitor for Law Society Council
A local Saltcoats solicitor has been appointed to the Law Society of Scotland’s governing Council.
Following a nomination period, Peter Walsh, of Jas Campbell & Co Ltd, in Saltcoats, was the sole nominee, thereby securing his seat unopposed.
Lorna Jack, outgoing Chief Executive of the Law Society said: “Congratulations to Peter for securing his seat to represent his local constituency members. The Council has responsibility for the overall governance of the Law Society and our Council members play a really important part in that – bringing in their expertise as well as the views and perspectives of their constituents. Whilst I won’t have the opportunity to work with Peter directly, I wish him all the best in his new role.”
Mr Walsh, a practising solicitor for 14 years, said: “I am really delighted to have been given this opportunity to represent my fellow constituency solicitors and am very much looking forward to taking my seat on the Society’s Council.”
Mr Walsh will attend his first Council meeting on Friday 28 January, and his appointment will run until May 2024.
Our Council
The Council is our decision-making body. It's made up of elected members from geographical constituencies, co-opted and non-solicitor members.
