Scam emails from 'The Law Society support centre'

We've been informed of scam emails claiming to be from 'The Law Society' or 'thesupportcentre@lawsociety.org.uk' sent out to solicitors and law firms.

The emails claim that the Law Society of England and Wales are updating their database and ask you to open an attachment. The Law Society of England and Wales have confirmed that they did not send these emails and you should not open the attachment.

Scam emails like this are likely to become more frequent in the run up to Christmas and we'd recommend you and your colleagues read our cybersecurity guide which includes tips for individuals on what to think about before opening emails and attachments.

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are updating our database of solicitors and law firms and require some important information for your profile.

Kindly review the P1 and P2 forms in the attachment below and get back to us within two days. [Completed forms can be scanned and emailed to us or sent through fax]

***Please note that if we do not hear from you within this time frame, your record would be temporarily taken off the site.***

Where a fraud or scam has actually taken place, it should be reported directly to Police Scotland.
