Scottish Government confirm home moves permitted under new restrictions
The Scottish Government has updated its guidance on moving home in light of Tuesday’s (22 September 2020) announcement of new measures to drive down the infection rate.
As per the original Guidance dated 29 June 2020, all home moves will continue to be permitted, provided they can be carried out safely.
The update confirms that professionals and trades who need to enter people’s homes to facilitate a home move can continue to do so. Viewings by prospective purchasers can continue with a ‘virtual first’ emphasis.
John Sinclair, Law Society of Scotland Property Law Committee member, said: “Given how seriously affected many legal firms and their clients have been by the outbreak of the coronavirus, we are pleased that the updated guidance offers some reassurance to those involved in the property market.
“The Scottish Government restrictions have consistently kept health and safety in the foreground and this update strikes a welcome balance, seeking to protect lives and businesses.”
