Scottish Parliament call for evidence on proposed Land and Buildings Transaction Tax supplement
The Scottish Parliament is calling for evidence on a proposed Land and Buildings Transaction Tax supplement on additional residential homes, to be submitted by the end of January.
The supplement on purchases of additional residential properties, such as buy-to-let properties and second homes, was proposed in the Government’s Draft Budget for 2016-17 and is expected to come into effect from 1 April 2016.
The Law Society’s Tax Law Committee will be responding to the consultation and we would also encourage any practitioners with comments or concerns about the new tax or its operation, to respond to the consultation as well.
More information about how to respond to the consultation can be found here: http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/gettinginvolved/95263.aspx. The deadline for responding is 29 January 2016.
