Smaller firm solicitors to benefit from free business support roadshows
The Law Society of Scotland has launched a new series of roadshow events to provide smaller firm solicitors with free business support in areas such as technology and regulatory compliance.
The first half-day conferences will be held in four key regional centres – Dumfries on 2 March, Perth on 19 March, Aberdeen on 14 May and Inverness on 15 May 2026.
The events have been developed as part of the Law Society’s support plan to bolster smaller firms and the critical work they do. The plan was developed based on input from members gathered via independent research.
Attendees will receive four hours of certified Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through sessions covering anti-money laundering, account rules and financial compliance, cyber security, and legal innovation and technology.
There will also be an opportunity to discuss local issues relevant to smaller firms and to provide feedback to Law Society staff and elected officials including President Patricia Thom, Vice President Serena Sutherland and Chief Executive Ben Kemp
Ben Kemp said: “Smaller firms are an integral part of Scotland’s legal sector. As the professional body for Scottish solicitors, we want to support our members working in these businesses so they continue to thrive.
“These events offer solicitors from smaller regional firms an opportunity for in-person training and networking. Our Member Services and CPD teams have created an agenda that’s tailored to the specific needs that smaller firm solicitors have told us about.
“These will be practical and interactive sessions that add real value for our members. They will reflect the specific challenges and opportunities that exist for these firms, and start conversations for further improvements in the future.”
