Autumn 2018 SOLAS classes
Enrolment is now closed.
Enrolment has now opened for the Society of Law Accountants in Scotland (SOLAS) classes commencing in Autumn 2018.
The course focuses on the three key areas of cashroom accounting, executries and feeing.
The course is for a period of one year with one term dedicated to each module. Modules will be provided on one evening per week in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness (numbers permitting). There is also the option to attend the classes via webinar video link.
In order to provide as much flexibility as possible, staff can either undertake all three modules in the one year or only one or two of the modules
Costs
Module | Duration | Cost |
---|---|---|
Cashroom accounting | 10 weeks | £350 |
Executries | 12 weeks | £350 |
Feeing | 5 weeks | £150 |
All three modules | 1 academic year | £675 |
Those students who successfully complete all three modules will then be able to apply to SOLAS for Associate Membership. Further information regarding SOLAS can be obtained from their website – www.solas.co.uk
It is recommended that only staff with a minimum of 12 months' relevant work experience should undertake the modules. Your cashroom staff, paralegals, trainee solicitors or qualified solicitors will find one or more of the modules useful either as a refresher or as a tool to familiarise themselves with cashroom duties.
You should submit your application to Dorothy Nicholson, SOLAS Education Administrator, 17 Raith Gardens, Kirkcaldy, KY2 5NJ
- 13 August 2018 for cashroom,
- 19 November 2018 for executries
- 11 March 2019 for feeing
The Administrator is responsible for the registration of the course while area organisers in each of the centres manage the day-to-day running of the modules and examinations. Once your enrolment in the module(s) has been processed, your details will be passed to the relevant area organiser who will contact you with full details of the classes. The SOLAS Education Board oversees the course.
Please complete the enrolment form for the members of your staff you would like to attend the modules commencing in September. Enrolments will be on a first come, first served basis and the form should be accompanied by your cheque for the relevant amount made payable to SOLAS Education Board.
If you or a colleague are interested in the course, but unable to attend, please contact dorothy.nicholson@solas.org.uk detailing the module you are interested in and a brief summary of why you are unable to attend. It is possible that alternative arrangements can be made to accommodate you.
