Tribute paid to past president Philip Dry
The Law Society of Scotland today paid tribute to former president Philip Dry, who passed away on 24 November 2019.
John Mulholland, President of the Law Society, said: “Our thoughts are with the friends and family of our former colleague Philip Dry at this time, and in particular his wife Joyce, and his children Jonathan and Christine.
"Philip had an enormous influence on the profession, both as an individual practitioner and also in his contributions to Law Society committees, as a member of Council, and of course during his time as president of the Society.
"He was a great innovator. Always keen to share knowledge he championed the introduction of the Society's business workshops. He also introduced the computer advisory service – an example of his personal commitment to supporting our profession to take advantage of new opportunities, such as those offered by technology.
"Philip will be sadly missed."
Philip Dry joined the Council of the Law Society of Scotland in 1991, and served as President from 1998 to 1999.
