Tribute to Sheriff Considine
Law Society of Scotland President Sheila Webster has paid tribute to Sheriff Gerard Considine who passed away earlier this month, saying “We were very saddened to learn of the death of Sheriff Considine.
“Gerry was very well known and highly regarded across the profession as a criminal defence solicitor and solicitor advocate. He was very committed to his chosen profession, demonstrated by his election as president of the Glasgow Bar Association and in the work he did as a member of the Law Society’s Criminal Law Committee. As an active member of the committee, he contributed to our work on the Criminal Proceedings etc. Reform (Scotland) Bill during 2006/2007 and the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Bill in 2009/2010.
“His elevation to the bench as a sheriff in 2020 saw him bring that same dedication, depth of knowledge and integrity to the position.
“He will be much missed by many across the profession and we send our deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.”
