Dumfries solicitor jailed for embezzlement

A Dumfries solicitor has been given a 12 month prison sentence for embezzling £13,000 of client funds.

Steven Crommie (37) committed the offences between April 2013 and February 2014 when he was director of Bell Park Kerridge, the Scottish branch of a Carlisle-based firm which opened the previous year.

Dumfries Sheriff Court was told that Crommie, who had been in practice for 15 years, co-operated fully with the investigation when caught. Clients had been fully compensated.
