Glasgow criminal case hearings for Sheriff Appeal Court
The Sheriff Appeal Court will move to Glasgow for two days next month to hear criminal appeals.
The court, which normally sits in Edinburgh, will sit in the High Court of Justiciary at the Saltmarket on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 August.
President of the court Sheriff Principal Mhairi Stephen QC will sit with Sheriff Principal Craig Turnbull and Appeal Sheriff Sean Murphy QC on 14 August, hearing appeals against conviction.
On the following day Sheriff Principal Stephen will sit with Appeal Sheriff Andrew Cubie to hear appeals against sentence.
The Sheriff Appeal Court was established in 2015 as part of Lord Gill’s court reforms. Its criminal business consists of appeals in summary cases that would formerly have been taken to the High Court.
