Lord Advocate to give Human Rights Day lecture
Lord Advocate James Wolffe QC is to deliver this year's JUSTICE Scotland Human Rights Day Lecture.
Mr Wolffe’s talk, on Friday 9 December, will place the prosecution of crime in the context of a commitment to fundamental rights. Human Rights Day falls on 10 December, the anniversary of the adoption by the United Nations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The free event, staged by the Faculty and JUSTICE Scotland, takes place in the Laigh Hall, Parliament House, Edinburgh, from 5pm (registration from 4.30pm), and will be followed by a drinks reception. It will be chaired by Lady Scott, with closing remarks by Derek Ogg QC, chair of JUSTICE Scotland.
