Parking company on fraud charges for invalid claims
A London based company has gone to trial in Scotland on charges of attempted fraud by knowingly sending out letters claiming parking penalty charges under legislation that only applies south of the border.
Civil Enforcement Ltd were represented in Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday as the court heard that letters were sent to drivers who had used car parks in Inverurie, claiming that the charges were enforceable against them under schedule 4 to the Protection of Freedoms Act. It is alleged that the company did this in the knowledge that the Act does not apply to Scotland.
The company denies the 11 charges brought against it.
