Renfrewshire Law Centre to close over funding issues
Renfrewshire Law Centre is to close at the end of this month after serving the area for more than 20 years.
It is understood that a withdrawal of public funding has led to the move. A registered charity that relies on grant funding, legal aid and donations, the centre receives grant funding from Renfrewshire Council for its core advisory services, and from the Scottish Legal Aid Board for its GRADE project which deals with eviction and repossession. It is the only law centre in Renfrewshire.
A statement on the Paisley-based centre's website says that it will close to the public on Friday 30 March. It is contacting clients with ongoing matters to advise them of the situation and their options if their business is ongoing.
Drop-in surgeries will continue throughout March, but the centre will not be able to take on new client matters with a lengthy timescale for conclusion.
