Scotland Office renamed after public confusion reported
The Scotland Office, the department which represents Scottish interests in the UK Government, has been renamed.
Now known as the Office of the Secretary of State for Scotland, the change comes in the wake of evidence that some membes of the public believed the department to be part of the Scottish rather than the UK Government.
Formerly the Scottish Office, the previous subtle change of name took place on the creation of the Scottish Executive, now the Scottish Government, with the devolution settlement.
The present Secretary of State for Scotland is David Mundell MP.
