Sentencing Council posts interactive case study as new resource
A new interactive "case study" resource featuring a robbery case has been added to its website by the Scottish Sentencing Council.
Users are able to follow the prosecution of Paul, who has robbed a shop, selecting options including a guilty or not guilty plea, with further pages explaining the typical courtroom scenario that follows. Finally they choose what sentence they would give Paul if they were the sheriff.
The new resource adds to the Council's pages on sentencing laws, the factors a judge will consider when deciding a sentence and the sentences available in Scotland.
A "jargon buster" explains legal terminology in easy to understand language.
The Council is continuing to expand its website and welcomes suggestions for further additions.
