Sport's Hall of Fame event backed by Harper Macleod
A double bout of sporting sponsorship has been announced by legal firm Harper Macleod.
Today Harper Macleod is supporting the latest Scottish Sports Hall of Fame event, at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum today, in which five leading sports people – Sir Chris Hoy MBE (cycling), Shirley Robertson OBE (sailing), Shirley McIntosh MBE (shooting), Kenny Cairns MBE (swimming) and Sir Ian McGeechan OBE (rugby) – will be added to the roll of honour of those already in the Hall of Fame.
The firm has also agreed a deal to sponsor the coaching staff at Highland Rugby Football Club for the next three years.
Harper Macleod has offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Thurso and Lerwick. It was legal adviser to and a sponsor of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Chairman Professor Lorne Crerar commented: “Sport is inspirational and can be enjoyed by everyone at all levels – there are opportunities available for everyone to get involved regardless of their level. We are pleased that Harper Macleod can play its part in supporting the achievements of Scotland’s outstanding athletes which can in turn motivate and inspire future generations to take up their mantle. We look forward to the announcement of the latest heroes who will join the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame.”
Regarding the rugby sponsorship Professor Crerar, himself a former player and referee, and a Judicial Officer at the Rugby World Cup 2015, added: "Rugby is close to my own heart and as a leading business in the area it’s great to get involved with the club as they push for the title.”
Highland RFC’s first XV play in the Caledonia Regional League Division 1, and the club has teams at all age groups as it develops young talent in the area.
