Two appointed to Scottish Sentencing Council
Two new members have been appointed to vacant positions on the Scottish Sentencing Council.
Susan Fallone JP has been appointed as a judicial member, replacing Gillian Thomson JP. A justice of the peace in Edinburgh since 2013, she currently works as a civil litigation solicitor, and is a supervisor in the Law Clinic at the University of Strathclyde.
Krista Johnston is the new solicitor member, replacing John Scott QC. She founded the firm of Martin, Johnston & Socha in 1998, concentrating exclusively on criminal defence work. She became a criminal solicitor advocate in 2007 and is a member of the Society of Solicitor Advocates and Fortis Chambers.
Chair of the Council, Lady Dorrian, the Lord Justice Clerk, said: "I am delighted to welcome Krista and Susan to the Scottish Sentencing Council. Their knowledge and expertise will be invaluable to the Council as we start to deliver the ambitious programme of work set out in our 2018-21 business plan."
The appointments, each for a five year term until D ecember 2023, were made by the Lord Justice General, in consultation with the Scottish ministers and, in the case of the solicitor member, the Law Society of Scotland.
