Deirdre Hanlon
Deirdre Hanlon has over 20 years experience in the legal sector. She was previously a partner at a law centre providing legal advice, assistance and representation to clients with a mental health diagnosis across a broad range of civil legal matters. She has also provided legal consultancy at a private law firm. In 2006 until 2011 Deirdre was appointed HM Commissioner at the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland over two terms where she chaired the Inquiries and Investigations Group amongst other things.
Deirdre currently sits as a Legal Member on the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland and within the Health and Education Chamber in the additional support needs jurisdiction where she also edits the Tribunal Members Bulletin. Deirdre was appointed Chair of the board of trustees as Just Right Scotland in 2017, a charitable human rights organisation promoting collaborative social justice and equality through legal services across a number of different projects including the Scottish Women’s Rights Centre, and the Scottish Refugee and Migrant Centre.
