Smaller firm research 2025

  4. Smaller firm research 2025

Smaller law firms form an important part of the Scottish legal sector. To better understand the issues facing practitioners in that sector, the Law Society of Scotland commissioned research among members working in smaller practices. The broad themes of the research were informed by feedback received from members throughout the year at Member Forums.

The research was an opportunity to dig deeper into those issues, not only the challenges, but also where members saw opportunities for smaller practices to thrive.

Thanks to the number of members who participated in the research, we have a detailed picture of those challenges and opportunities. The report itself offers useful insight which we hope will be of interest to members. We will also use the results to review and make changes to the support we offer smaller firms. We will report on an ongoing basis when we introduce new initiatives to support members.

The work was carried out independently by Taylor McKenzie Research.

The results can be read here.
