65 new solicitors welcomed to profession
The Law Society of Scotland’s latest admission ceremony took place at the Signet Library in Edinburgh this morning, with 65 new solicitors being admitted to the profession.
Sheriff Principal Marysia Lewis was the guest speaker, and the Society's President, John Mulholland told those being admitted: “You will all find that you continue to learn, develop and have new experiences throughout your professional lives.
“If you take away one thing today, remember the importance of what you do for the society you live in, be proud of it and celebrate it. Respect your profession and each other as you pursue your personal goals and ambitions."
Lorna Jack, chief executive of the Society, described the Society's services for new lawyers and encouraged them to become involved with its work. She said: “We are here to support you, your career development and your futures, and regulation is a core and key part of what we do. It is critical that you and your colleagues have clear and robust rules to guide you in the course of your roles, but there is so much more on offer to help you to not just do your jobs, but to excel in your roles, as fulfilled and happy individuals.”
