All areas show rise in January house price figures
All parts of Scotland saw a year-on-year rise in-house prices to January 2021, according to the latest provisional figures from the UK House Price Index.
The average across the country was £164,099, up 6.9% on January 2020, though 1.0% lower than the December figure.
UK prices showed a similar pattern, the average of £249,309 being an increase of 7.5% on January 2020 but a decrease of 0.5% on the previous month.
The largest area increase was in East Ayrshire, where the average price rose over the year by 13.1%. The smallest was in Aberdeen City, though the average price increased by 1.6% after a period of steady decline.
Volume of residential sales in Scotland in November 2020 was 11,842, up 20.3% on the original provisional estimate for November 2019.
Accountable officer Janet Egdell commented: "The latest report shows that prices rose in all parts of Scotland, and sales volumes remained high, but it is too early to be certain if this is evidence of the market catching up from earlier in the year, or whether it will be sustained into next financial year.
"Over the year as a whole, volumes have picked up and cumulatively are now around 83% of levels in the previous year."
