Anwar cleared of misconduct charge
Campaigning solicitor Aamer Anwar has been cleared by the Scottish Solicitors' Discipline Tribunal of a charge of professional misconduct.
The decision followed a four year investigation and prosecution brought by the Law Society of Scotland.
Mr Anwar had denied the charge, which he said arose from a "technical, single issue" in 2012 arising from his firm's former terms of business. The clause concerned the ability to make a complaint about the fees charged.
After the case he thanked his legal team of Claire Mitchell QC and solicitor Johnston Clark of Blackadders, who represented him before the tribunal.
He commented: "As a lawyer, I have always tried to fight for justice without fear or favour and will continue to do so."
