BBC's The Firm returns to spotlight Aamer Anwar
Campaigning Scottish solicitor Aamer Anwar and his team are to be the subject of a BBC Scotland series that will screen from next month.
Across eight episodes, The Firm will follow their work as they embark on their busiest year, taking on three public inquiries – the death in police custody of Sheku Bayoh, in which they represent the family, as well as the Scottish and UK Covid-19 inquiries, in both of which they act the Scottish Covid bereaved. The UK inquiry is the biggest public inquiry in British history.
Mr Anwar and his team are committed to fighting for the underdog in a bid to ensure justice is served. But the series will also explore his personal story and the trauma that drives him, along with the camaraderie of his loyal team.
The series, which will also be available on BBC iPlayer, is produced by STV Studios for BBC Scotland. An earlier BBC series of the same name featured the work of criminal defence lawyer George More and his team.
