BTO's Motion takes chair at data protection firm
BTO Solicitors has strengthened its links with Really Good Data Protection LLP ("RGDP"), which provides data protection officer services to help meet legal requirements, as RGDP announces changes to its management team.
Paul Motion, a senior partner in BTO and a solicitor advocate, has become the new chairman of RGDP, having served on the board for the past two years, following the retirement of Bill Speirs.
Mr Motion is one of only two private practice solicitors in Scotland to be accredited as specialist in freedom of information and data protection law. Over the last three years he has helped oversee the establishment and growth of RGDP, including steering the business through the current pandemic.
He is joined on the RGDP board by Alastair Dunn, an experienced BTO partner specialising in corporate and commercial law.
Tim Musson of Computer Law Training, a founder member of RGDP, remains on the board.
RGDP's general manager, Mark Chynoweth, commented: “With data protection rightly becoming an increasingly important and essential aspect of an organisation’s thinking, and with the data protection landscape continuing to evolve following the UK's departure from the EU, RGDP's customers can remain assured that our range of DPO services and our growing and highly experienced team will remain one step ahead”.
