Edinburgh employment partner joins Burges Salmon

Edinburgh employment lawyer Katie Russell has joined Burges Salmon, as one of six new partners across the UK announced by the firm today.

Ms Russell joins from Shepherd & Wedderburn, where she was also a partner. An experienced advisor in UK employment law, she acts for company boards, in-house legal counsel and HR professionals on matters across the UK and internationally. She has particular knowledge of data privacy in an employment context. Dual qualified in Scotland and in England & Wales, she also regularly advises on corporate reorganisations, outsourcings, acquisitions and disposals, with particular expertise in the financial sector. 

Among the five partner promotions is dual qualified Ross Simpson, a real estate solicitor based in Bristol, whose expertise includes rural property and Scottish land and estates.

The appointments bring the firm’s total number of partners to 96 as of 1 May 2020.
