Fine art print offer to boost Lawscot Foundation
The Lawsuit Foundation charity is to benefit from limited edition fine art prints of artist Stephen McClean’s paintings of Edinburgh's Parliament Hall.
Individually signed by the Lord President, Lord Carloway, and Mr McClean, the 250 prints are expected to raise a total of £25,000 for the Foundation, which supports intending lawyers from less advantaged backgrounds through their degree and diploma studies.
Legal art publisher Hanna Fine Art and the Faculty of Advocates have collaborated to publish the two images of the landmark building, to create a rare Scottish legal collectible. To preserve the value and rarity of the prints, they will be available exclusively to members of the Scottish legal profession.
Lord Carloway, a former president of the Scottish Arts Club, commented: “When I was approached by Paul Hanna of Hanna Fine Art I was happy to agree to support this opportunity to help raise funds for a worthy charity by signing the prints. The Lawscot Foundation assists students from less-advantaged backgrounds to pursue a legal education. I was particularly pleased to support a project that combines legal study and artistic creativity. The two prints complement one another in capturing the elegance of Parliament Hall in a style that is impressionistic.”
Expressing her thanks for the support, Christine McLintock, chair of the Lawscot Foundation, added: “The Foundation is honoured to be the nominated charity for this initiative. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on many young people from less advantaged backgrounds who often rely upon part time work to help fund their studies. Any additional funding will be very welcome to help us support more students at this challenging time.”
The prints can be viewed and purchased by visiting www.hannafineart.co.uk. Buyers will also receive a photograph of Lord Carloway signing the prints and a letter of authenticity signed by the Lord President.
