Four lawyers among 2020 FRSE intake
Lord Carloway, Lord President of the Court of Session, is one of four prominent Scots lawyers elected Fellows of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE) in its 2020 intake.
He is joined by Dr Joe Morrow CBE, QC, former President of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland and current Lord Lyon King of Arms; Lord Campbell of Pittenweem (Menzies Campbell QC), Chancellor of the University of St Andrews; and Professor Stephen Tierney, Professor of Constitutional Theory at the University of Edinburgh.
The new intake of 64 fellows joins the current roll of around 1,600, representing the full range of physical and life sciences, arts, humanities, social sciences, education, professions, industry, business and public life. Those who are nominated, and then invited to join, have undergone rigorous assessment of their achievements, professional standing and societal contribution.
Fellows help the RSE to deliver its mission "Knowledge Made Useful", contributing to the cultural, economic and social wellbeing of Scotland and the wider world.
Among others on this year's list are Dr Lindsay Montgomery, chair of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator and former chief executive of the Scottish Legal Aid Board; and Talat Yaqoob, director of Equate Scotland and an equalities consultant.
