Four partners in six Shepherd & Wedderburn promotions
Four partner promotions, along with two legal directors, have been announced by Shepherd & Wedderburn to take effect on 1 May.
The newly assumed partners are property and infrastructure specialists Nigel Sievwright and Fraser Grant, commercial disputes specialist Matt Phillip, and health and safety/regulatory specialist Kevin Clancy.
Mr Clancy joined the firm as a trainee in 2006. Based in Edinburgh, Kevin advises public and private sector clients in relation to health and safety, licensing and regulatory crime matters across sectors including hospitality, retail, energy, construction and education. He won civil rights of audience as a solicitor advocate in 2013.
Also with Shepherd & Wedderburn since he was a trainee, Mr Philip joined the firm in 2009 and focuses on disputes involving commercial contracts, intellectual property and brand protection, as well as leading the firm’s Sports Law group. Admitted as a solicitor in Scotland, England & Wales, and the Republic of Ireland, he advises clients in high profile cases throughout the UK and before the EU Court of Justice.
Mr Sievwright, who joined Shepherd & Wedderburn in 2014, is dual qualified in Scotland and England & Wales. He has extensive experience advising the public sector, special purpose vehicles (SPVs), funders, contractors and facilities management providers on infrastructure projects across the UK, on the design, build, finance and maintenance of projects in a wide range of sectors, in addition to supporting operational projects.
Joining the firm in 2016, Mr Grant specialises in property finance, strategic land and corporate occupier work, with substantial experience across the real estate, infrastructure and energy sectors. He has a particular focus on the city office market, comprising major developments, pre-lettings and funding arrangements, as well as the energy and infrastructure sectors and international rail.
Vikki Henderson and Peter Alderdice are the two new legal directors. Ms Henderson, who joined the firm as a trainee in 2008, acts in commercial property including leasing, asset management and investment acquisitions/disposals, with a particular focus on telecommunications. Mr Alderdice, a banking and finance lawyer who specialises in financial services regulation, joined in 2014 and has a practice including cross-border syndicated lending, structured finance transactions, Islamic finance deals and lending to investment funds.
Managing partner Andrew Blain commented: “These well-deserved promotions recognise our lawyers’ specialist expertise, their knowledge and understanding of the sectors in which they operate, and their ongoing commitment to building relationships of trust with our clients and supporting them with services of the highest quality. We congratulate them on their achievement, and wish them every success as they embark on the next stage of their careers at Shepherd & Wedderburn.”
